OUR MISSION

Established in 1889, the Thurston-Mason Medical Society has grown to over 400 practicing physicians.

The Society's mission is to:

  • Promote the art, science and practice of medicine and the practitioners who pursue these goals;
  • Protect and improve the health of the public; and
  • Provide leadership for its membership.

The Thurston-Mason County Medical Society (TMCMS), a non-profit professional organization, is a constituent of the Washington State Medical Association (WSMA) and the American Medical Association (AMA).

Our History

TMCMS was organized on June 29, 1889. The object of the society was the "cultivation and advancement of medical science." Membership dues in those days were, after a $3.00 initiation fee, just twenty-five cents per month. The first elected President was N. Ostrander, MD.

On November 2, 1905, Mason County physicians joined Thurston County physicians to become the Thurston-Mason County Medical Society.
